This article reports on the difference between how mental health is viewed by Aboriginal people and non-Aboriginal people. The article presents findings from a study undertaken in Western Australia and proposes a model for non-Aboriginal practitioners on how to work with Aboriginal clients. The article may enhance practitioner understanding about how mental health is viewed by Aboriginal people and may also encourage practitioners to work with Aboriginal clients in a manner that is respectful of their culture and viewpoints.
