Description

Living strong was a healthy lifestyle group-based program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Queensland. The Living strong program encouraged participants to seek a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and physical activity and teaches them life skills to be able to do this in their daily lives.

These 9 x A2 sized flipcharts were developed as part of the program, and cover the following topics:

The program was developed by the Tropical Public Health Unit nutrition teams in Cairns and Townsville as a primary prevention intervention to address the high incidence of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases among North Queensland Indigenous adults.

The manual is no longer available, however the Living strong program is still being delivered to some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
