Combined Universities Centre for Rural Health, in partnership with the with the Disability Services Commission and Western Australian Country Health Service, has developed an on-line cultural orientation plan. It is recognised that many health professionals have little or no knowledge about Aboriginal people or about colonial legacies that have had a lasting impact on their health and wellbeing. The objective of the plan is to broaden an understanding of the historical and contemporary contexts of Aboriginal health among the health profession.
The plan consists of five self-directed learning modules with a focus on allied health, however much of the content is directed at all health professionals. The course is approximately two hours long, and students are required to log-in with their account details and an enrolment key supplied by the teacher.
