Description

This booklet was developed by the Queensland Department of Communities as part of three online resources to assist organisations and service providers to identify and respond to people at risk of suicide. The booklet contains chapters covering topics such as:

• what is suicide and self-harm?
• common warning signs and myths
• responding to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• what resources are accessible?

The booklet contains a chapter on responding to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, but is generally not Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific.

When to use this resource

This resource is for agencies that do not have a primary role in supporting people at risk of suicide but may have contact with people at risk of suicide as part of their core business. The resource is intended to provide these organisations and at-risk individuals with accessible information about appropriate responses to managing suicide and self harm.
