Book
This comprehensive book is intended for use by all Western Australian health professionals working in rural and remote areas where sexually transmissible infections (STIs) are endemic. The aim of the book is to enhance the capacity of health care staff to manage uncomplicated cases of STIs effectively through adherence to appropriate procedures for assessment, management, and follow-up care.
The book contains six sections including: epidemiology and health impacts of STIs; descriptions of different STIs and blood-borne viruses including mode of transmission, symptoms, and treatment; clinical management of STIs including opportunistic screening and contact tracing; notification pathways; essentials for STI education; and clinical advice and support.
Included in the book are photographs of the clincial presentation of different STIs to assist health care practitioners in identifying the infections in clincial practice. The book is also written in a manner to ensure its appeal to health professionals with varying levels of qualifications.
