This leaflet aims to improve understanding among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about grief in children. The leaflet includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artwork and language. The issues covered in the leaflet include:

• telling them the truth
• children and grief
• how parents can help
• reaching out.

The leaflet was produced by the Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Council of South Australia as part of a Grief and trauma project resource package.

When to use this resource

This leaflet would be a helpful resource for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people caring for children who are experiencing grief. Health workers could pass this leaflet on to clients, or the leaflet could made available in places where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people regularly visit.
