Description

This flipchart describes the relationship between the brain and mental illness. This story is shown through the use of words and pictures that are culturally appropriate and engaging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The flipchart covers the topics:

• how the brain works
• problems with the brain
• different types of mental illness
• how to get the brain's balance back.

When to use this resource

This flipchart could be used by mental health practitioners when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with mental illnesses. Practitioners could use the flipchart to explain how the brain works, what happens to the brain when someone has a mental illness, and to explain the different types of mental illnesses.
