CREDIT NT

 

Overview

CREDIT NT was replaced by the Substance misuse assessment and referral for treatment court (SMART court) as of 30 June 2011.

CREDIT NT was a court diversion program targeting individuals whose offences were drug related. It aimed to divert clients into treatment while on bail; progress and efforts related to treatment were acknowledged at sentencing. Clients were assessed and monitored by appropriately qualified Court Clinicians.

The primary aims of the program were to:

CREDIT NT operated in Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
