The In-language road safety campaign aims to overcome the language and literacy challenges faced by many Indigenous people living in the Northern Territory (NT) who may not speak English as their first language.
The campaign involved 52 remote communities and used talking posters; posters with a small speaker that transmitted a recorded message which could be recorded in multiple languages to overcome the language and literacy challenges. The posters featured Australian Football League (AFL) players who spoke of personal or family experiences which resulted from a road accident or tragedy.
The campaign took place in October 2009 and involved Territory Insurance Office (TIO) and NT police.
