Kids protect your lid

 

Overview

The Moree Plains and Gwydir Shires road safety program, the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) and the NSW Police Force teamed up to implement a cycle safety project called Kids protect your lid. This project aimed to increase helmet wearing rates in the Moree Plains and Gwydir Shires in NSW, with a particular focus on the communities of Mungindi, Boggabilla, Toomelah and North Star, which have large Indigenous populations. The project had a number of strategies including:

The impact of these strategies was measured by observational surveys conducted outside the schools and at key locations within the community at regular intervals throughout the project.
