The Torres Strait Regional Authority: housing and environmental health: Asian tiger mosquito control project sub-program

Overview

This project is aimed at controlling the Asian tiger mosquito population in the Torres Strait region. This will help to decrease the incidence of dengue fever and other mosquito-borne diseases. The project will contribute to peoples awareness of the Asian tiger mosquito and the preventative measures they must take to control outbreaks of dengue fever. The training of environmental health workers in the control of mosquito populations in their communities is vital to the success of the project.
