The Street beat program aims to help Koori young people, particularly those at risk of homelessness and alcohol/drug use, by offering case management services to assist them in accessing the services they require. This may include counselling, employment, education and training, legal assistance and accommodation services.
The program seeks to provide this assistance until the young person has developed the skills, knowledge and confidence to independently take repospnsibility for their casework issues.
The program also provides a Street beat transport service (the Streetbeat bus) for young people in the South Sydney, Inner West and local surrounding areas who are unable to get home at night time.
