Child health nutrition education and support: Mt Gillen project

Overview

As part of Nganampa Health Council's (NHC) early childhood services, a child health trainer and Anangu child health project officer provide early intervention, education and support for mothers with young children with failure to thrive.

The program provides training and education in child nutrition and childcare three mornings each week at Mt Gillen where there are a kitchen, weighing/change room, and indoor and outdoor play areas. Educational activities include cooking, preparation of snack boxes for children, health and hygiene advice, weighing children and monitoring their growth, and structured and free play.
