Katungul Aboriginal Corporation substance use services



The Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Community and Medical Service provides a range of alcohol and other drug use services to the Aboriginal community of the far south coast of New South Wales.

A registered Mental Health Nurse and Aboriginal Health Worker provide counselling and referral for alcohol and other drugs. In addition, a self-help program, Self Management and Recovery Training (SMART) is offered. SMART assists individuals recover from addictive behaviours including alcohol and other drugs, gambling, food and shopping. SMART teaches practical skills to help individuals deal with their problems enabling them to abstain and achieve a healthy lifestyle balance.

The SMART program is made up of four key components:
