New South Wales Health has developed a program and a website called Live life well which provides information and advice on how to live a healthy life. The Prevent diabetes live life well program run by Tharawal Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) has adapted the Live life well program for their clients aged 18 years and over, who are considered by their GP to be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Participants receive ongoing support from a specially trained Aboriginal lifestyle officer, teams of nurses, dieticians, exercise physiologists and other health professionals. They also learn how to eat healthier, set personal physical activity goals, and overcome personal barriers to change.
Participants are encouraged to achieve five goals:
