Indigenous health research program

Overview

The Indigenous health research program at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is working to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through health, medical research and education.

The Indigenous health research program is currently undertaking several research projects, one of which is dedicated to cancer. This project has been designed to compare treatment and health care services for Indigenous and non-Indigenous cancer patients in Queensland. The findings generated from this project will be used to inform health initiatives to improve cancer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. Data analysis for this project is expected to be completed in December 2008.
