Overview

Tirkandi Inaburra is an Aboriginal community run centre for Aboriginal boys aged 12-15. The centre offers educational, recreational and cultural programs aimed at developing skills and enhancing culturally identity and self-esteem. Tirkandi Inaburra aims to teach Aboriginal youth how to develop and draw on their own resilience in order to take responsibility for their own lives, develop strategies to deal with their problems and minimise any risk. The centre caters for 16 boys at any one time and the voluntary participation in the program is between three to six months. Funding for the program is provided by the NSW Government.
