Overview

Rekindling the spirit is a community based project run by Aboriginal people, for Aboriginal people. The aim of the project is the empowerment of Aboriginal people through a process of spiritual, emotional, sexual and physical healing. Rekindling the spirit has a family based approach, and conducts counselling services combining traditional and contemporary methods. This program assists family violence perpetrators to take responsibility for their offending and provides an opportunity for behaviour change. It includes one-on-one counselling and support, group work and referral to specialist mainstream services. Rekindling the spirit also provides a range of support services for Aboriginal families who are victims of violence. Community and government agencies work together on this project for the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
