Cooking healthy and physical activity project (CHAPA)

Overview

The Cooking healthy and physical activity project (CHAPA) is part of the Healthy Active Australia's Community and school grants program funded by the Australian Government of Health and Ageing.

CHAPA is a community-based group program managed by Healthy Living NT for people with heart disease and/or type 2 diabetes in the greater Darwin region. The program is provided by a team of health professionals consisting of a nurse educator, dietitian, exercise physiologist and psychologist.

CHAPA is a ten week program which consists of two sessions per week, and includes sessions on goal setting, physical activity, cooking healthy food and nutrition education. The project will deliver four programs over a 12 month period. The first program was conducted in late 2008, the second in February 2009.
