Overview

Sisters Inside Inc. provide a sexual assault counselling service for women in prisons in south-east Queensland. There are two sexual assault counsellors available, one Indigenous and one non-Indigenous. The program was established in 1994 due to the high percentage of women in prison who were sexually abused, with this abuse being one of the contributing factors to their offending. The service is accessed by over 3,500 women annually.
