Koori Kitchen

 

Overview

The project, Koori Kitchen, involved 12 Indigenous youths from Redfern (in Sydney's inner city) who received cooking lessons at a respected restaurant. This pilot program ran for 3 months, during which the candidates were trained in food preparation, cooking and food tasting.The project was about giving Indigenous youths between 14 and 18 years an experience in a positive learning environment. The project was based on role modeling and skill development. It was centered on nutrition and exposing young people to different types of food and help in developing better eating habits.
