Overview

The preferred vaccine is a specific type, called Hib PRP-OMP. This vaccine provides increased protection to very young infants and is used because there is an increased risk for this age group among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children living in Queensland, the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia. This vaccine is provided at 2, 4 and 12 months of age, at the same time as other routine vaccines.
