Taste bubs strong babies solid start

 

Overview

The Taste bubs strong babies solid start pilot program aimed to develop and test a strategy and resource to help Indigenous parents understand normal development of eating behaviours, encourage enjoyment of healthy eating, prevent the development of eating difficulties and reduce non-nutritious food preferences.

A resource kit for the program was developed by Meerilinga in consultation with groups of Aboriginal parents and carers from various regions across Western Australia. The kit incorporated culturally appropriate wording and messages for all parents of young babies about to transition from breastmilk or formula to solids.

The program was largely a success, with participants overall knowledge, confidence and understanding of providing healthy first eating experiences increased.
