Yanyun lotjpan yapenyebak

Overview

The Yanyun lotjpan yapenyebak program, meaning 'walk and talk together', facilitates leadership development and skills training to young Indigenous Australians, to explore their heritage and culture, connect with their story and share their stories with others.

The program works with at-risk youth in a holistic way, reconnecting them with their culture, building self-respect and respect for others, and helping them develop their sense of identity.

An important component of the program is the teaching of traditional cultural practices to particpants using the natural resources in the Barmah State Forest in Victoria.

Yanyun lotjpan yapenyebak is funded by the Uniting Church in Australia's Board of Mission and Resourcing.
