Street Corner Champion Beatball (Beatball)

Overview

The Street Corner Champion Beatball (Beatball) program was developed to engage young Aboriginal people not currently involved in mainstream sport for a range of reasons.

Beatball focuses around the key areas of physical activity, education, health and positive mentoring.

Beatball is a '3 on 3' basketball competition and the games are self-governed where the young people referee themselves. This concept sees the youth playing for fun, helps to develop their social, emotional and physical well-being, as well as promoting and encouraging them to make the transition into local community sport.

The program was developed by the Nyoongar Sports Association in Western Australia.
