Drug courts

Overview

Western Australia has both an adult and children's drug court, which aim to break the cycle of drug use and offending by facilitating treatment programs as part of the court process.

The Perth drug court operates in the Perth Magistrates Court while the Children's drug court operates in the Perth Children's Court. Other programs to address drug use are available in regional areas for people not able to access the Drug courts.

Offenders are case-managed by a Court Assessment and Treatment (CATS) Officer who coordinates a program of supervised treatment tailored to the offender's needs.
