Broome Gurrie youth gathering

Overview

In 2005, Broome Aboriginal Media Association (BAMA) received funding from the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Educations to plan and implement the Gurrie youth gathering.

The main aim of this project was to address alcohol use among Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people aged 13 to 17 years in the Kimberley region, Western Australia, via a youth designed and delivered media campaign.

Goolarri Media, a holding company of BAMA, engaged young people in formulating culturally appropriate media messages and imagery relating to alcohol use.

Abstract adapted from the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education
