Angkwerre-iweme (Traditional Healing) Project

 

Overview

The Angkwerre-iweme (Traditional Healing) Project aimed to assist Elders and healers to maintain and practice Arrernte traditional healing within their community. Arrernte healing involves knowledge systems that comprise an interconnected model of health care and is linked with the land through bush medicines, healing songs, smoking, and Angangkere (healers).

The project supported healers and Elders to come together and share knowledge and skills, and ensure that it is passed on to future generations. Activities of the project included:
