Karralika 'Plot to plate' garden program

Overview

The Plot-to-plate project's primary goal was to enhance the eating and nutritional culture among high risk, low income population groups with attention also to self-resilience, economy, physical activity and a healthy environment.

Karralika's client population (people with addictions and recovering from addictions) was characterised by a high incidence of chronic health issues. The project aimed to improve knowledge among residents about nutrition and associated health issues. The project improved skills among residents in menu planning, meal preparation, healthy use of leftovers, food budgeting and use of home produce. This project ran from 2004 to 2005.
