The Willora Diabetes Self-Management Project was conducted to assess the efficacy of a chronic disease self management program in the remote Indigenous community of Willora, Central Australia.
A six month pilot program was conducted which involved:
An analysis of the program found that limited infrastructure for physical activity, and difficulty in accessing fresh, healthy, affordable food, were key barriers to the implementation of an effective self management system for chronic disease.
