Lyrebird Exercise Classes

Overview

Lyrebird Exercise Classes were run by the Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation and aimed to address the lack of physical activity services available, and increase physical activity participation, for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of the Macarthur area, east of Sydney, New South Wales.

The exercise classes began running once per week in 2010 in the communities of Airds, Macquarie Fields and Eagle Vale, and also offered childcare services and to-and-from transport facilities.

Participants were able to keep up-to-date with current information on the classes and other related activities through the Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation Facebook page.
