Jalaris kids future club

 

Overview

The Jalaris kids future club project is an initiative of the Jalaris Aboriginal Corporation which aims to improve the health and educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the Derby area of Western Australia. The project is staffed by two Aboriginal Education Workers and provides activities for children and their families based on:

The project aims to introduce children and their families to semi-structured learning in preparation of mainstream schooling. It also provides an outreach health service. The outreach service, in collaboration with health practitioners such as the child and maternal health nurses, aims to visit children involved in the club at home, twice a year to give support and access to the mobile clinic.
