Bega Garnbirringu health services provide alcohol and other drug counselling and a sobering up centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
The alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling service provides culturally secure and appropriate counselling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients (adult and juvenile) with alcohol and drug issues including:
The sobering up centre was implemented through the Royal Commission in Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. It provides a safe and secure place for those affected by drugs and or alcohol to sober up, away from police incarceration. Clients who are repeat clients will receive assistance with their alcohol and other drug uses through a referral service.
