Focus Health Network - otitis media project

The Focus Health Network - otitis media project aims to enhance the capacity of general practitioners (GPs) and other primary health care providers in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland to provide high quality treatment for otitis media (OM) in Indigenous children.

Focus Health Network (formerly the Sunshine Coast Division of General Practice) aims to achieve this goal by recruiting four primary health care practices in the region for coaching and supporting in the utilisation of the updated Clinical care guidelines on the management of otitis media in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations.

Practices will be able to refer Indigenous children who are in need of specialist care to a local privately-practicing ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist, who will be recruited as part of the program. This specialist will also be responsible for up-skilling GPs in region on the updated otitis media (OM) guidelines.
