The Department of Education and Children's Services employs hearing advisory teachers (also known as education advisors - hearing) to provide professional support, advice and resources to schools and families to improve educational outcomes for students who have impaired hearing or are deaf in the Northern Territory.

The Hearing Advisory Teachers can be contacted directly to ask questions and discuss concerns or issues regarding students with a hearing loss/impairment. A formal request for support can also be made through the school principal or the school's special education consultant.
