Understanding influenza-specific T cell immunity in the Indigenous population

Overview

This study aims to provide unique insights into influenza-specific T cell immunity in the Australian Indigenous population. This type of information will be used to inform vaccine design.

Specifically, the project aims to achieve the following objectives:

• determine viral regions targeted by cytotoxic T cells, together with their human luekocyte antigen restrictions
• define optimal T cell responses
• understand influenza-specific T cell immunity in Indigenous individuals hospitalised with severe pandemic 2009 H1N1 virus.

This project will be funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
