Overview

The Family violence aboriginal advocacy and counselling program is delivered through the Yorgum Aboriginal Family Counselling Service in Perth. The program provides holistic and culturally sensitive counselling to Indigenous people affected by family violence, sexual abuse and associated issues.

The program uses a collaborative approach to family violence and sexual abuse by working with appropriate departments and agencies. Clients have access to Indigenous counsellors and advocates who are trained in a range of healing strategies that aim to empower individuals and families to be in control of their own healing. Education on human rights, protective behaviours, parenting, and self esteem is offered to achieve this goal.
