Feed Melbourne

Overview

Feed Melbourne is a campaign that provides grants to charities in Melbourne, Victoria. These grants aim to give local charities the capacity to support people going through hard times in their communities. Feed Melbourne's special grants advisory committee - which includes FareShare, Foodbank Victoria and the Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation - reviews the grant applications and decide how the funds should be distributed.

Businesses across Melbourne are encouraged to donate any surplus quality nutritious food which is collected daily by FareShare. FareShare is a charitable group who then cook nutritious meals and distribute them to Victorian charities.

Two thirds of all donations are available as grants for community-based charities, for fridges, freezers, pantries, etc. The remaining one third is allocated to FareShare.

Since 2009 Feed Melbourne has given over $1,000,000 to 85 community food programs.
