Overview

Smoke free mob is an initiative of the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO). Its aims are to work with Aboriginal community controlled health organisations to:

• implement workplace smoke free policies to support tobacco cessation for workers
• assist health professionals working with Aboriginal clients to access training and support
• implement Aboriginal tobacco cessation community development and social marketing
• evaluate, disseminate and share findings of the project
• support pregnant Aboriginal women to be smoke free.

Smoke free mob is delivered by the Tobacco Cessation Team at VACCHO and seeks to build the capacity of VAACHO member organisations to support tobacco cessation in the Victorian Aboriginal community. The program is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing. Smoke free mob is a development of an earlier research program, Goreen Narrkwarren Ngrn-toura - Healthy family air.
