Overview

The Assistance with care and housing for the aged (ACHA) program aims to support people on a low income with housing difficulties. The ACHA program assists eligible clients, who:

• are 65 years or older (non-Indigenous)
• are 50 years or older (who identify as Indigenous or prematurely aged)
• are homeless
• may be at risk of becoming homeless as a result of experiencing housing stress.

The program helps these clients access appropriate sustainable and affordable housing within their community. Where appropriate, the program also links clients to a range of housing and care services in order to meet the clients' immediate and ongoing needs. The program operates from Bowden, in South Australia, and assists clients who reside in the following council areas:

• City of Prospect
• City of Charles Sturt
• City of Port Adelaide Enfield
• City of West Torrens.
