Fresh Food for Families: Generations of Health

Overview

St John's Care has always provided emergency food for people in need and receives a continuous supply of donated non-perishable food. However St John's Care is very much aware that what they are able to supply does not necessarily represent a balanced diet. They are also aware that the effects of poor nutrition and life skills are perpetuated by family culture and economic disadvantage. Introducing a continuous stock of fresh food including meat, fruit and vegetables and dairy produce to offer emergency relief to clients would promote awareness of good nutrition and will allow clients some dignity of choice.
