Filling the gaps; nutrition and physical activity needs assessment for children

Overview

This research project is being conducted by the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) in partnership with the Royal Childrens Hospital and Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.

The purpose of the project is to conduct formative research (formalised community consultation) with parents and carers of young children from Aboriginal communities in one rural and one metropolitan local government area in Victoria. The objective is to assess knowledge, beliefs, sources of information and practices relating to the nutrition and physical activity of infants and young children, and to gather community advice and support for developing a pilot, evidence-based nutrition program.
