The Real deadly fitness program is aimed at disengaged and at-risk youth in the Airds Community. The program runs from 6am to 8am each Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
Wayne Briggs, the local Youth Worker believes the program will build routine and confidence in young people and help with school attendance and work attendance.
The fitness program includes about an hour of boxing and cardio work before a warm down run around Airds Pond and a healthy breakfast. The program also has a mentoring component for Indigenous young people based on a Redfern program, Tribal warrior. This part of the program is run by volunteers and is attended by 20 to 25 youths each morning.
