Litter Reduction Pilot Program East Arnhem



This Litter Reduction Pilot Program provided resources to nine East Arnhem communities in the Northern Territory (NT) to help them clean up, recycle and keep their communities clean for future generations.

The pilot was supported by interim funding through the Australian Food and Grocery Council's Packaging Stewardship Forum and delivered by a partnership between Keep Australia Beautiful Council (KABC) NT and the National Bin Network (NBN), a five year funded industry plan aimed to increase recycling and reduce litter nationally.

The pilot provided KABC NT with significant resources to work with local councils and community groups such as schools, stores and environment groups to reduce litter and increase recycling.

As a result of the work undertaken by council and community members, Gunyangara was awarded with the Small Community Award at the 2013 Territory Tidy Town Awards.
