Overview

The Northern Territory Government has invested $120 million over five years to implement a New era in corrections initiative, a package aimed at breaking the cycle of recidivism. The initiative will deliver the development of facilities and services, including:

• new prison facilities
• new court orders to get offenders into rehabilitation and work
• new electronic surveillance of offenders
• better reintegration support
• more rehabilitation beds and treatment programs.
