Sustainable personal development for Aboriginal men

 

Overview

The purpose of the Sustainable personal development for Aboriginal men program is to reduce the incidence of suicide among Indigenous men aged 15-45 years in the Port Augusta area of South Australia. The program's focus is on equipping men with important life skills and coping mechanisms, and on building resilience and community capacity within Indigenous communities in the region.

Project objectives include the development and delivery of culturally appropriate personal development resources, including training modules covering topics such as self-esteem, conflict resolution, loss and grief

The program employs a Suicide prevention officer who:

The program is run by Centacare and receives funding under the National suicide prevention program.
