Healing land, healing people

Overview

The Healing land, healing people program aimed to develop strategies to divert young people from experiencing juvenile detention.

The program was designed for Nyoongar young people in the south west of Western Australia who were at risk of offending. It was a collaboration between government, community organisations, Gondwana Link, and Nyoongar leaders in the Aboriginal Corporation of Noongar Youth Diversion Programs; and was supported by a Lotterywest grant. This program recruited Aboriginal mentors from the local community to teach young people about respect for self, land and culture.
