The Healing pathways project developed from consultations with the Katherine Regional Aboriginal Health and Related Services (KRAHRS) Executive and Steering Committee. KRAHRS was considered to be appropriately placed within the Indigenous service sector to administer the project, which would be responsible for supporting services and stakeholders involved with clients requiring support for the harmful use of alcohol.
The project does not provide alcohol related services itself, but assistance to existing services in the form of coordination, workforce and training support, and effective administration and referrals. The purpose of the project is to:
An Implementation Steering Committee has been established to guide the project. A case-management model and referral tool has also been designed as part of the project.
