The Anyinginyi fetal alcohol spectrum disorder project is run by Anyinginyi Public Health Unit, and began in September/October, 2011. The aim of the project is to raise awareness about fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Through the project, Anyinginyi Public Health Unit strives to build partnerships and links with existing programs and services for FASD in the Barkly region of the Northern Territory.
Resources and publications on the theme of healthy pregnancies, FASD and related issues have been developed and collected as part of the program, and are available to partners and stakeholders. These include:
Activities undertaken by the those involved in the project include a submission to the Federal government's inquiry into FASD and involvement in Core of Life training and workshops with local young women and their group. The project also produces a newsletter or update on progress bi-monthly.
