Pilbara Meta Maya environmental health program

 

Overview

Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC) provides environmental health services to 27 Indigenous communities in the Town of Port Hedland and the Shire of East Pilbara in the north-west part of Western Australia (WA). The PMMRAC environmental health team visits each community in the area at least once every three months to carry out routine and special environmental health work.

The PMMRAC environmental health team also acts as an important link between Indigenous communities, Council staff, health centres and service providers, particularly at times of infectious disease outbreak. This program is funded by the WA Department of Health.
